Sea-Doo sits inside the Bombardier recreational story that began with Joseph-Armand Bombardier in 1942. After Ski-Doo snowmobiles (1959), Bombardier launched a 1968 “Jet-powered Aqua Scooter” called Sea-Doo — a broad hull with water-jet drive meant to invent personal water recreation. Early engines and comfort issues limited success and the line was soon shelved. After the spin-out of BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products), Sea-Doo remained the group’s marine pillar alongside Can-Am and Ski-Doo. Ranges segmented into recreational (GTI, GTX), performance (RXT, RXP), accessible entry (Spark, 2014) and later Switch pontoons that stretch the brand beyond pure scooters. Rotax powertrains, part of the group since 1970, underpin the tech story. In the Mediterranean and Corsica, Sea-Doo dominates rental fleets, clubs and tourist day trips: handling, comfort packs, rider aids and BRP service support explain a historically strong share. Sea-Doo remains one of the three global PWC references with Yamaha WaveRunner and Kawasaki Jet Ski, pushing onboard electronics, power modes and connected services. For Corse Boats, Sea-Doo is the volume core of jet-skis & sea scooters: a global production brand highly visible in local rental and owner leisure — distinct from exotic craft such as Seabreacher.
